Winter wonderland

LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer a winter wonderland fun day for children ages 5 to 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24.

During the event, children will participate in winter-themed games and crafts. Children will make snowball cupcakes, learn a polar bear poem in sign language and make their own cut paper snow scene to take home.

Outdoor adventures

LEWISTON — A local group of outdoor enthusiasts is developing a
Lewiston-Auburn chapter of the Maine Outdoor Adventure Club, an
all-volunteer member organization.

Members organize and lead
all trips and activities from beginner to expert. Activities include hiking,
Nordic and alpine skiing, summer and winter camping, canoeing and
kayaking, running, mountain and road cycling. The group has members of
all ages and experience. 

Those interested in becoming a member
or learning more about MOAC are invited to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.
26, at CMMC conference room A. Those attending should enter at the 12
High Street entrance, conference rooms are downstairs.

Distribution day

AUBURN — Auburn AC Serve, a part of Serve New England’s food and
volunteer program, will have Distribution Day from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, 263 Turner
St., Whitney Street entrance.

Registrations for February also will be taken. New participants in
the Serve, formerly SHARE, program are welcome. For more information,

Yoga classes

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at
Central Maine Medical Center will offer free yoga and tai chi classes
to cancer patients, survivor and caregivers. Classes will take place at the
CMMC Wellness Center, at 12 High St.

Tai Chi for Life classes will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 9.

Yoga for Life will offer gentle movements and poses for all fitness levels.
Classes are ongoing and available from 11 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

Woodmen event

LEWISTON — Modern Woodmen of American will sponsor a meal for Camp 8609 from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Chickadee, Lisbon Street. Cost is $8 each member, $9 each guest.
