Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Nicholas T. Sparrow, 19, of 10 Wadley St. and charged him with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he remained Thursday night. Bail was set at $500 but because Sparrow is accused of violating bail, he will not be released.

Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity in the area of 817 Anderson Road in Sebago. They found a dirt bike and a chain saw in fresh snow near an unoccupied home.

Deputies saw footprints in the snow and followed them to a couple of summer homes that had been forced open. After talking to one of the home’s owners, they figured out that the chain saw had been stolen from his home.

Police tracked Sparrow on foot in the snow for about a half-mile and discovered him trying to hide by lying down in a wooded area, authorities said in a written release.
