Francois G. Gallant
1949 – 2010
ROCKLAND — Francois “Frank” G. Gallant, 60, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, after a prolonged illness.
He was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Lewiston, the son of George and Marion (Burton) Gallant. Frank lived his early years in Auburn, moving to East Hartford, Conn., in the early 1960s. He attended H. Cheney Technical School and later served time in the Marine Corps in the Vietnam conflict.
he lived and worked in many parts of the U.S. and often remarked that he believed he had been in every state, at one time or another. He loved to fish, winter or summer and being in the outdoors. He loved country music, especially by Reba and he would ride a Harley-Davidson at any opportunity. He enjoyed cold beer and pizza with friends, watching the Young and the Restless, deer hunting, the Giants, ice hockey and he never met a kitten he didn’t love.
he had a huge sense of humor and loved to talk and laugh with family and friends. His close friends, Johnny, Tony and “Deuce,” were part of a strong support group throughout his long illness, as well as his case-worker, Jamie and others close to him the past several years.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Paul Shiebler; his two stepbrothers and sister-in-law, Donald and Carol Lamb and Richard and Atsuko Lamb; a stepsister, Barbara White; a number of aunts and uncles, cousins — especially close to Lynn — and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents; stepfather, Richard Lamb; and two of his favorite uncles, Alfred Brown and Bernard Brown.
