LIVERMORE FALLS — A Jay man faces a drunken-driving charge after police were alerted to be on the lookout for car a that was being driven erratically on Route 4 in the Turner and Livermore area on Wednesday afternoon.

Androscoggin County Sheriff’s dispatchers asked Livermore Falls police to watch for a red Buick with Alabama license plates after it was reported to have hit a snowbank and then  nearly struck an oncoming vehicle, Livermore Falls police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Thursday.

Police located the car at about 5:30 p.m. at Cumberland Farms in Livermore Falls.

Officer Steve Allen arrested Jose Amos Madez, 42, on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and issued him a summons on a charge of operating after suspension of his license, Steward said.

Madez is also known as Jose Delgado, he said.

Madez posted $560 cash bail and was released from the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn Wednesday night. He is scheduled to appear in Lewiston District Court on March 10.
