AUBURN — The Maine Games will hold their fourth annual National Anthem auditions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Community Little Theater. The event will determine the 2010 Maine Games National Anthem vocalist, who will represent the nonprofit organization at events around the state, and also New England.

This year’s singer will be awarded the opportunity to perform “The Star Spangled Banner” at a Portland Sea Dogs game at Hadlock Field, perform at the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl All-star Football Game in Biddeford in July and also sing at a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park.

Other opportunities may also become available. Singers ranging in age from 9 to 65 have auditioned for the opportunity in the past.

Applications are being accepted at www.mainegames.org/anthemaudition.php. Singers wishing to audition must submit an application and be invited to the event.

Last year’s Maine Games National Anthem vocalist Hannah Kramer of Cape Elizabeth performed prior to the Aug. 23 nationally televised ESPN broadcast of the New York Yankees/Boston Red Sox game.

The event is open to all Maine residents (30-day minimum residency requirement). However, only those singers invited to audition will be allowed to perform.

Applications will be accepted until Thursday, April 1.
