LEWISTON — The Marine Corps League Central Maine Detachment will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. The installation of officers elected and appointed will take place. All officers are asked to be in uniform.
The group will welcome the Department of Maine Commandant and may also see the Junior Vice Commandant. There will be several awards presented as part of the meeting. All marines and FMF corpsman are encouraged to attend.
Department of Maine Commandant Robert A. Clark will speak on the annual National Salute to Veteran Patients, which will be the week of Feb. 8 to 12. During the week, the VA invites individuals, veterans groups, military personnel, civic organizations, businesses, schools, local media, celebrities and sport stars to participate in a variety of activities at the VA Medical Center to pay tribute and express appreciation to hospitalized veterans.
The activities and events include special ward visits and valentine distributions, photo opportunities, special recreation activities and veteran recognition programs. The detachment will be at Togus, Building 205, on Monday, Feb. 8.
