Falmouth 79, Poland 40
FALMOUTH — The Falmouth boys’ basketball squad pounced on Poland Wednesday, jumping out to a 19-8 lead in the first frame and racing away to a 79-40 victory.
Stefano Mancino led undefeated Falmouth (15-0) with a game-high 26 points, while Ryan Rogers chipped in with 15.
The Knights (4-11) were paced by Kyle McVane with a solid 13-point effort, while Mike Littlefield added 10.
Elan 57, Gould 15
LEWISTON — Elan exploded for 20 points in the third quarter and ran away to a 57-15 rout over Gould in Prep School boys’ basketball action Wednesday.
Malik Nunn led Elan with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Jack Peters tallied 13 and Elvis “The King” Ruweda added 11. Elan jumped out to a 12-2 advantage in the first frame and was never challenged.
Abe Bartlett led the way for Gould (5-10) with four points.
Hockey
St. Dom’s 3, Messalonskee 2
OAKLAND — Nate Bergeron grabbed a nice pass from Alex Parker and fired it into the net with five minutes left in regulation to lift St. Dom’s to a 3-2 victory over Messalonskee in local boys’ hockey action Wednesday.
Parker and Dakota Keene gave the Saints (7-5) a 2-0 advantage in the first frame. Sam Dexter made it a 2-1 contest for the Eagles (6-5) in the second period. Cam Berard also tallied for Messalonskee.
Shayne Curtis made 16 saves for St. Dom’s to record the win, while Nate Delguidice turned back 39 shots in goal for Messalonskee.
Lewiston 11, Cony 0
AUGUSTA — Ben Legant and Sam Cloutier both registered hat tricks Wednesday as St. dom’s skated to a 11-0 victory over Cony in more local hockey action.
Matt Therrien, Austin Obie, Nick Mathon, Desman Gagne and Joeu Fournier also tallied for the Saints (10-2) to complete the scoring. Cam Pussard made eight saves to notch the shutout, while Matt Swan turned aside 31 shots between the pipes for Cony.
Hebron 10, Vermont Academy 2
UNKNOWN — Vlad Gavrik netted four goals and Nate Dupere chipped in with two as Hebron hustled to a 10-2 victory over Vermont Academy in a Prep School boys’ hockey matchup Wednesday.
Jeremy Laing, Shane Hearn and Andy Bettencourt also tallied for Hebron to complete the scoring. Colin Taylor made 22 saves to record the win.
Ed Fink and Ben Farmer each scored for Vermont Academy, while John Brown turned aside 19 shots in goal.
