Leavitt 5, Yarmouth 2

YARMOUTH – Cara Violette scored a hat trick and Kayla Royer added a pair of goals to send Leavitt to a 5-2 triumph over Yarmouth in a girls’ hockey game Tuesday.

The Hornets (12-2-1) built a 3-0 lead through the first two periods. Sydney Nadeau, Shelby Poland and Holly Gallup were credited with assists.

Hannah Schuchert scored both goals for Yarmouth.

Oak Hill 51, Gardiner 41

WALES – Maggie Sabine scored 23 points and hauled down 14 rebounds to lead Oak Hill to a 51-41 triumph over Gardiner in a Class B KVAC girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

The Raiders (8-8) took command early with a 14-3 run in the first quarter.

Alexis Priest added eight points for Oak Hill. Emily Kozmsa led Gardiner with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Carrabec 55, Mt. Abram 48

SALEM – Carrabec opened up a three-point lead at halftime and kept Mt. Abram at bay in the second half for a 55-48 victory in an MVC girls’ contest Tuesday.

The Cobras (7-8) led 17-14, 32-29 and 44-38 at the quarter breaks.

Marisa Murray scored a game-high 14 points to pace Carrabec and Carisa Booker chipped in with 10 points. Miranda Smith scored 12 points to lead Mt. Abram (1-15). The Roadrunners received scoring from 11 of their 13 players.

Hebron 40, Seacoast Christian 26

HEBRON – The Hebron girl’s basketball squad saved the best for last, using a 22-8 second half run to record a 40-26 victory over Seacoast Christian in a girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday.

Janelle Bradish led Hebron (9-5) with a game-high 18 points, while Malorie Johnson chipped in with 10. After Hebron jumped out to a 12-8 lead in the first frame, Seacoast (5-8) rallied back to tie the game with a 10-6 second quarter run. 

Makayla Harris led Seacoast with eight points, while Amberle Bennett and Ruth Towne each added six.

Brunswick 71, Lewiston 39

LEWISTON – Brunswick kept Lewiston winless as Becky Champagne scored 11 points, steering the Dragons to 71-39 victory in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

Brunswick got way out in front of Lewiston when it easily constructed a 37-15 lead by halftime and then went to town on the Blue Devils (0-15), scoring 21 points.

For Lewiston, Jaime Swart was the only double-digit scorer with 14 points.

Oxford Hills 30, Edward Little 28

AUBURN – Alex Rowe scored the game-winning free throws with 22 seconds left as Oxford Hills slipped away from Edward Little with a 30-28 victory in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

The Red Eddies missed a couple layups after Rowe scored. EL held a narrow 16-14 lead at halftime before being held to just two points in the third quarters.

Lindsay Fox scored 10 points for Oxford Hills (9-6), while EL’s (12-3) Kayla Cummings scored nine. 

Leavitt 64, Waterville 57

WATERVILLE – Adrianna Newton ignited a 19-16 run in the fourth quarter as Leavitt managed to squeak by Waterville 64-57 in a KVAC girls’ basketball tilt.

Newton hauled don 12 rebounds and finished with 20 points, including eight in the final frame. Courtney Anderson led the Hornets (14-1) with 23 points and eight assists, while Abby Randall also contributed with 12 points.

Waterville (10-5) was paced by Jenn Nayle with a solid 16-point effort, while Taylor Frame tallied 15 and Stacie Whitten added 12.
