LISBON — Russell F. Gerry, 63, resident of Congress Street in Lisbon died Wednesday, Jan. 27, at his residence after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 15, 1946, in Casco, a son of Leslie and Beatrice (Merrill) Gerry. He was raised in Durham and graduated from Lisbon High School, Class of 1964.
He was employed as a construction worker at various companies and had most recently been employed as a bartender at the Scoreboard in Lewiston.
He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post of Lisbon, the AMVETS of Durham and had been a member of the Eagles Lodge of Lewiston. He was an avid reader, enjoyed hunting, brook fishing and was also an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed spending his free time restoring cars.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Roxanne (Zemla) Gerry of Lisbon; two sons, Michael S. Zemla and his companion, Brenda Smith, of Wilton and Russell J. and his wife, Janelle Gerry, of Lincoln, Neb.; brothers, Eugene Gerry of Raymond, David Gerry of Raymond and Kenneth Gerry of New Gloucester; sisters, Nancy Chandler of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Erma Caron of Bowdoin and Penny Massey of Windsor, Va.; stepsisters, Ruth Nason, Carlene Lebreque and Phyllis Russell; a stepbrother, Archie Merrill; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild to be, lovingly referred to as “Nugget.”
He was predeceased by two brothers, Ivan and Erwin Gerry.
