100 years ago, 1910

The Merry Wives of Windsor Whist Club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E H. Boody of Main Street, Lewiston. Light refreshments were served after the cards had been laid aside. The substitutes for the afternoon were Mrs. B.H. Dingley, Mrs. S. Stoddard, Mrs. W.M. Abbott and Mrs. Dana Rowe. The club will meet in one week from next Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Ralph Burnham of Main Street, Auburn.

50 years ago, 1960

Organization of what probably will be the Andy-Valley Go-Cart Club is scheduled to take place tonight at a meeting at Mac’s Fix-It Shop on the Turner Road, Auburn. The club is open to all individuals interested in the new sport of go-carting.

Already the group has made application to affiliate with the American Go-Cart Club.

25 years ago, 1985

There’s a new kid on the Western Maine Class A basketball block.

With their 75-64 victory Friday night over Lewiston, the Biddeford Tigers have supplanted the Blue Devils as the eighth-ranked team, the cut-off point for the tournament. Coach Ron Cote’s team, after a dreadful start, now owns recent wins over South Portland, Sanford and Lewiston. The Tigers are rolling.
