Myra P. Huotari
1917 – 2010
NORWAY — Myra P. Huotari, 92, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, at Stephens Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born in Waterford, April 24, 1917, the daughter of Matti and Mary Heikkinen Pulkkinen. She was educated in the Turner schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute in 1936.
She married Elmer Huotari on Oct. 17, 1942, and went on to work in the Oxford Hills High School cafeteria for 20 years. She was a member of the South Paris Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving in the Alter Guild and Priscilla Circle. She was also a member of the Finnish American Society.
She was a caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend and loved by all who were privileged to know her. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed her time in the kitchen and always welcomed the company of friends and family.
She is survived by three brothers, Antti Pulkkinen and wife, Margarite, of Canton, Peter Pulkkinen and wife, Margaret, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Richard Pulkkinen of Bedford, Mass.; two granddaughters, Christine Ryan of South Paris and Saara Leduc and husband, Kevin, of Norway; one grandson, Jeffery Judkins of Portland; and three great-grandsons, Nicholas Allen, Jackson Leduc and Alexander Leduc.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Elmer; two daughters, Brenda Judkins and Martha Ryan; six sisters, Lila Watter, Mary Pike, Elena Johnson, Hilma Kola, Sylvia Haverinen and Elvi Komulainen; and two brothers, Onni Pulkkinen and Reino Pulkkinen.
