PORTLAND — The Maine Real Estate and Development Association is hosting a breakfast seminar, “Changes in Contaminated Property Regulation in Maine: Just When you Had it All Figured Out.”

The event will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Feb. 25 at the
Clarion Hotel, 1230 Congress St., Portland. Panelists
will discuss new developments in the Maine Department of Environmental
Protection’s contaminated property regulation policies.

For the first time in more than 10 years, the Maine DEP is completely
revising its cleanup guidelines for contaminated soil, commonly
referred to as the Remedial Action Guidelines or RAGs. The new RAGs are based on more sophisticated health-based risk models
and expand the type of exposure scenarios to more accurately reflect
common land uses. The new guidelines also provide for more flexibility
by allowing site-specific health-based risk assessments.

Conference sponsor is St. Germain & Associates and Perkins Thompson.

Registration fees for the event is $40 for MEREDA members, $50 for nonmembers; after Feb. 18, $50 and $60. To register or for more information, contact Shelly R. Clark
at the MEREDA office at 874- 0801, e-mail at [email protected], or
register online at www.mereda.org. Note: Payment is expected at the time of registration. No refunds will be granted to anyone who registers, but fails to attend or who cancels after Feb. 18.
