LEWISTON — Despite the massive recall of Toyotas, insured drivers need not worry about their policies, a spokesman for State Farm Insurance said Wednesday.
“The recall is not going to affect coverage,” said Doug Nadeau, who represents State Farm in Maine and New Hampshire. “It seems that every car has a recall for one thing or another.”
That’s likely to be the industry standard, he said.
One possible problem could be that a Toyota owner ignores the recall for a long time, Nadeau said. If years go by, an insurance company might have trouble suing Toyota for damages created by the accident.
In that remote case, the policy holder would likely lose the deductible, he said.
State Farm is Maine’s biggest auto insurer.
