FARMINGTON — The Western Maine CA$H (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Coalition is sponsoring a Super Refund Saturday on this Saturday, Feb. 6.

Free tax appointments will be taken from 9 a.m. — 12 p.m., and are conducted on the third floor of Roberts Learning Center on the University of Maine at Farmington campus.

This Super Saturday opportunity will expand the free tax preparation offered by the Western Maine CA$H Coalition and is sponsored by Key Bank.

Specially trained greeters will be present to assist participants with questions and concerns, and distribute information about the wide variety of resources available in Greater Franklin County to assist people with building a secure financial future.

The greeters will walk through asset-building opportunities with folks above and beyond what is traditionally done during an appointment, if individuals are interested. This includes connecting individuals with information and resources about first-time home buying programs, family development accounts and The Harold Alfond College Challenge.

Janet Smith from Women, Work & Community will be available to offer access to free online credit checks, and refreshments will be served.

Community tax preparers undergo rigorous training to be able to help individuals claim all the benefits they deserve, including the Earned Income Tax Credit, where people may qualify for up to $5,657, and the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit.
