Harold W. Carleton
1927 – 2010

BANGOR — Harold W. Carleton, 82, of Hermon, husband of Irene (Sanford) Carleton, passed away Feb. 2, surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor nursing facility.

He was born in Winterport, April 25, 1927, son of the late Raymond H. and Edna (Firestine) Carleton. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked as a pipefitter for most of his life and was a member of the United Association of Pipe Fitters, Union Local No. 321 and No. 716. He was a life member of Whitcomb-Baker V.F.W. Post 4633 of Hampden, Mystic Lodge 65, A.F. & A.M. of Hampden and Anah Shrine of Bangor.

He was proud of his family and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Irene of Hermon; children, James H. Carleton of Hermon, John W. Carleton of Levant and Jeffrey A. Carleton and his fiancée, Jennifer Gendron, of Lewiston; grandchildren, Derrick Carleton and wife, Sara, Tonya Carleton and husband, Jeffrey Bryden and Ashley Carleton; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Carleton Bryden, Cole Bryden and Jayden Bryden; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Michael W. Carleton Oct. 26, 1989; and three sisters, Helen A. Carleton, Dorothy Rideout and Clara Baker.

The family thanks the staff of Ross Manor and Hospice of St. Joseph’s
for their kindness and support of Harold and his family during their
time of need.
