WILTON — The Child Health Center Big Brothers Big Sisters will have the annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake event on Saturday, April 10, at Meadow Lanes. The event supports the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program in Southern Franklin County.

To join the event, participants need to form a team of four bowlers. To register a team or get pledge sheets, call the Child Health Center at 782-5437 or visit www.childhealthcenter.org and click on the Bowl
For Kids’ Sake icon. Each team member needs to raise $35 or more in support.

After registering, teams will bowl during their designated times.

The Child Health Center offers both site- and community-based mentoring programs. Throughout the year, more than 40 “Bigs,” who are high school students and adults from the area, meet with elementary and middle school children, or “Littles,” to act as positive role models and offer a little extra support.

In the site-based program, Bigs meet for an hour a week with a child in elementary and middle schools. Matches meet for one hour a week during the school year. During their time together Bigs and Littles work on school work, play games and spend time talking.

In the community-based program, adults from the community are matched with a young person ages 8 to 12. Bigs and Littles spend a minimum of six hours a month together participating in a variety of activities throughout their community.
