WEST PARIS — Keeping with tradition, voters will be considering two budget proposals when the 2010 town meeting convenes Saturday, March 6.

First will be the selectmen’s proposal, which totals $1,032,405. The figure is a decrease of $68,203 from the 2009 budget.

The second proposal is being presented by the Budget Committee at $1,027,091, which is $73,517 less than 2009.

“We won’t have the figures from SAD 17 until the district’s Budget Committee comes up with a figure for the coming year, Town Manager John White said.
“And that won’t be until spring. I expect they will be higher than in the past when considering the cuts that probably are going to come down from the state. We will have to decide on our municipal budget and wait for the rest,” he said.

“To come up with some savings on our municipal budget we cut whenever we could but feel that we will be all right in that area as proposed,” he added.

A total of $555,339 will be used from revenues and fund balance, leaving and estimated $447,066 to be raised by taxes.
