Stanley G. Carroll

1935 – 2010

LEWISTON – Stanley G. Carroll, 74, of Oxford passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4, at Central Maine Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born in Paris on Oct. 2, 1935, the son of Lenwood and Grace Richardson Carroll. He graduated from Paris High School in 1955. While in school he participated in football, baseball, basketball, Glee Club, Science Fair and Future Farmers of America. He was known as “Punky” in high school and he was part of a group known as the filthy five.

He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge he lived in Massachusetts and was employed by LaGassie Carnivals where he met his wife. He then moved back to Maine, where he was very involved in his community. He was owner and operator of the Brown Bag Restaurant. After closing the restaurant he became a custodian for SAD 17, then worked at Burlington Homes for several years before retiring in 1991 due to ill health. He was also a very active member of the Grace Fellowship Church where he helped build the church and was head of the fellowship committee.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; son, Pastor James Carroll and his wife, Sally, of Olcott, N.Y., daughter, Pamela Carroll Holt and her husband, Scott, of Bethel, daughter, Deborah-Jean Ann Carroll and her fiancé, Tim Bermudez, of Auburn, son, Michael Carroll and his wife, Kelly, of Lowell, Mass., and daughter, Pam Bennett of Auburn; grandchildren, Daniel Carroll, Kira Kurtz, Becky Carroll, Alexis Whitman, DeAnnaka Holt, Michael Carroll II, Charis Carroll and Alex Ward; great-grandchildren, Scottie and Caleb Kurtz, and Trevor and Marissa Carroll; and a brother, Bruce Carroll and his wife, Vesta.
