FRANK S. ZIMMERMAN

1922 – 2010

SOUTH PARIS – Frank S. Zimmerman, 87, of Ryerson Hill Road, died peacefully on Feb. 6, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.

He was born in New Haven, Conn., on July 4, 1922, the son of Stephen Frank and Cecilia Scott Young Zimmerman. He spent most of his boyhood in East Haven, Conn., and graduated from East Haven High School in 1942, where he was active in sports. Frank married Charlotte Emile Tickhardt on June 18, 1950, and lived in the home he had built in Orange, Conn.

Frank had worked as a finish carpenter in the New Haven, Conn., area until his retirement in 1988, and moved to South Paris where he lived in his “dream” cabin until 2006, when he moved to Montello Heights and Marshwood Nursing Care Center in Lewiston.

Frank was an active member of the New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church in Connecticut. and attended the Woodstock Seventh-day Adventist Church in Maine. He always had a smile, a story, and never met a stranger.

He is survived by two daughters, Renita Johnson and her husband, Mark, of Auburn and Lorelle Porrazzo and her husband, Donald, of Wallingford, Conn.; and grandchildren, Elise and Donald Porrazzo.

He was predeceased by his sister, Audrey Scott Zimmerman Clifford; and wife, Charlotte.
