LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free workshop titled “Supporting Children When a Loved One Has Cancer.” The workshop will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 12 High St., on the CMMC campus, in conference room H.
Caroline “Tookie” Bright, a University of New England student pursuing a masters in social work, will lead the presentation and discuss methods to support a child affected by cancer. Topics will include: working with parents, how to talk about cancer, warning signs, feelings and behaviors.
Teachers, daycare providers, nurses and other professionals who work with children are encouraged to attend.
