LEWISTON – Maine Event cheerleaders were successful in their first competition of the 2010 All Star Cheer Season.

Four of Maine Event’s cheer teams competed at the Big League Open Championship in Springfield, Mass. All four teams received their bids to the U.S. Finals cheer competition in Virginia Beach in May.

Maine Event’s Mini team took first place in its division and scored the highest score of all mini teams of the day. The squad won a paid bid to the “Battle at the Capital” in Washington D.C. in March. Also competing and scoring well were Maine Event’s Tiny team, ranging from ages 2 ½ to 5, which took fifth place and a U.S. Finals bid. Both Senior and International teams captured third place and also clinched invitations to the U.S. Finals.
