BATH — The ArtVan Program was awarded $27,000 in grant funds for its work with children and teens in the communities of Lewiston-Auburn, Bath, Brunswick and Biddeford. The program brings art programming to children and teens in southern Maine who do not access to such opportunities.
ArtVan is also about building relationships and the trust necessary to make positive changes in the lives of youth, their families and the larger community.
The grants include: $1,500 from the Help-A-Kid Fund, which will go to “ArtVan Artists Xtraordinaire,” ArtVan’s after school program
for teens at the Bath Middle School; $3,500 from the Alfred M. Senter Fund for ArtVan to initiate a full-year, after school program for youth at Perryman Village, a low-income housing development in Brunswick; $600 from the Davenport Trust for ArtVan to provide art programming to the residents of Oliver Place, a homeless teen shelter in Bath; and $4,000 from the Irving Foundation for local artists working on ArtVan programs in Biddeford and Lewiston-Auburn.
Additional awards of $10,000 from the Lifeboat Foundation and $7,500 from the Jane B. Cook Charitable Trust will support ArtVan programming in Bath, Brunswick and Lewiston neighborhoods.
