Constance Schilling
1930 – 2010
BEND, Ore. — Connie Schilling, 79, of Bend, Ore., died Jan. 28, from acute leukemia.
She was born in Lewiston, May 22, 1930, to Elton Fales and Aurelia Griffin Fales. She attended Bates College, graduating with a degree in geology. She married John Harold Schilling in Lewiston on Sept. 20, 1953.
Connie worked as a geologic secretary at Harvard and New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. At the age of 54, she got her pilot’s license and later was an office manager of a flight school at Reno Airport. She enjoyed traveling to more than 40-plus countries. She also enjoyed swimming, skiing and hiking.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Schilling of Monarch, Mont., and Lisa Shipman of Bend, Ore.; two granddaughters, Holly Croff and Maggie Croff, both of Monarch, Mont.
She was predeceased by her husband; and her brother.
