TURNER — MSAD 52 Adult and Community Education, 486 Turner Center Road, has announced the following classes.
English Literature will start on Monday, Feb. 22. The class is geared to help explore various types of literature. Major authors of poetry, fiction, drama and historical documents will be discussed.
An Algebra class will also begin on Feb. 22. Students will learn the language, concepts and techniques of algebra, preparing them to approach and solve problems following a logical succession of steps. Skills in the course will lay groundwork for upper level math and science courses and have many practical uses.
A Basic Reading Improvement course will also start on Feb. 22. Participants may improve reading skills to read to children or grandchildren, help them with schoolwork or increase the ability to obtain a better job and be a more productive worker.
A Health Class, Session 1, will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 23. The course will cover various areas that effect health and well-being.
Geometry with PLATO will also begin on Feb. 23. Students will complete coursework independently in the computer-based environment. A teacher will be on hand at all times to answer questions and guide students through the coursework.
Algebra 1 and 2 will be taught concurrently in a cooperative environment class starting Feb. 23.
Writing for the Real World will begin on Thursday, Feb. 25. The class is designed to teach students to write in a well-organized manner. Participants will learn skills needed to complete tasks such as filling out job applications, writing e-mails, cover letters, resumes and essays.
