SALEM — MSAD 58 Adult and Community Education will offer Basic Computer for Adults from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, beginning March 1, for six weeks. The class will be held at Mt. Abram High School in the library. The cost is $70 and Kirsten Burbank will instruct. Students must preregister for the course as space is limited to eight students.

With laptops (PCs or Macs), students will learn basic applications using e-mail and word processing programs. Other topics will include basic file keeping and organization, storage management, using pen, jump, stick or flash drives and learning to use a USB mouse and keypad.

Students will learn about search engines, virus protection and how to recognize secure sites. Burbank will also discuss some of the history of the electronic age and many of the applications available to users today. Students can furnish their own machines for the course or mobile laptops (PCs) are also available for in-class use through the Adult Education program.
