LEWISTON — Mystery for Hire will bring the murder mystery/dinner theater show “Mystery at Café Noir” back to Marco’s Restaurant on Saturday, Feb. 27.

There will be a reception at 6:15 p.m., followed by dinner and the show at 7 p.m.

“Mystery at Café Noir” is one of the first dinner theater mystery shows ever performed in the United States.

“This show is a classic and one of the first ones performed in Lewiston-Auburn back in 1991,” said Dan Marois, who with his wife, Denise, owns and operates Mystery for Hire. “This was back in the days when we performed at No Tomatoes Restaurant in Auburn.”

The show brings audience members back to the era of film noir, similar in style to the movies “Casablanca” and “The Maltese Falcon.”

“This is the original mystery that provides international intrigue and sleazy characters all on a tropical island setting. It is one of the great ones,” said Marois.

Cast members, besides Dan and Denise Marois, of Poland Spring, are Julie Poulin of Monmouth, Chuck Waterman of Gorham and Brian Files of Gardiner.

Mystery for Hire’s professional actors perform during the breaks of a meal as they present strange characters and fast action leading to a mystery that needs to be solved. Audience members are invited to guess whodunit.

Tickets for the show are $36.95 per person, which includes the mystery show, buffet, tax and gratuity. For reservations, call 783-0336. Marco’s is at 12 Mollison Way. For more information, log on to www.mysteryforhire.com.
