Nona Royce
1949 – 2010
LEBANON, N.H. — Nona A. Royce, 60, a long time resident of Barrington, N.H., died Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, from complications that arose after a recent treatment for ovarian cancer.
She was born in Berlin, N.H., and was the daughter of Merit and Bertha Bean of Errol. She graduated from Gould Academy and the University of New Hampshire. She married Peter Royce in 1971 and they originally lived in Exeter, N.H.
She loved her family beyond measure. Being a mother and grandmother gave her the greatest joy. She had tremendous patience and optimism, despite having to deal with nearly 30 years of living with multiple sclerosis and three years of ovarian cancer. She always acknowledged that many people were worse off than she and she refused to give in until this recent challenge. She had a great deal of support from loving friends, doctors and nurses.
She is survived by her husband, Peter of Barrington; her son, Jonathan and his wife, Camilla Schollin and their children, Linnea and Gabriel of Nashua; her son, Brian of Dover; her sister, Juanita Smith and her mother, Bertha Bean, of Farmington; and her brother, Merit Bean Jr. of Madrid.
She was predeceased by her father, Merit Bean Sr.; and her brother, Laury Bean.
