LIVERMORE FALLS — Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that injured a 70-year-old Livermore Falls woman Wednesday in Cumberland Farms’ parking lot.

Officer Joe Sage was called to the store after a report of a hit-and-run at 2:43 p.m., police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Thursday.

The accident had actually happened at about 1 p.m., he said.

The senior citizen had been walking across the parking lot when a vehicle hit her and knocked her down and then took off, he said.

The woman had walked home after the incident, he said.

“She got a pretty good bruise on her knees,” Steward said.

Cumberland Farms’ employees had gone out to help the woman and she refused treatment. After employees reported the incident to someone at the company, they were told to call police, Steward said.

The accident was caught on surveillance tape and shows the vehicle hitting the woman.

Police know who the driver was.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, he said.
