1941 – 2010

PUEBLO, Colo. — The Rev. Garland Lee Whittington, 68, passed away Jan. 3, in Pueblo. Colo.

He was born April 19, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran and served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. After his retirement, he obtained his degree in religion and philosophy from Kansas Wesleyan University and became a pastor for the Brethren in Christ Church, pastoring in Colorado Springs, Colo., Garret, Ind., the Navajo Mission near Bloomfield, N.M., and Buckeye.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Eveleth Whittington; his daughter, Mary Hacker and husband, Rance Biesecker, of Chapman and their children, Russell, Joshua and Mahala; his daughter, Tacey Trevino and husband, Ric, of Camp Hill, Pa., and their children, Jordan, Austin and Skyy; and son, Burnham Whittington and wife, Kim, of Pueblo West, Colo., and their children, Kaelyn and Connor.
