Bernadette Irene Anctil
1921 – 2010
LEWISTON – Bernadette Irene Anctil, 89, of Seville Place, formerly of Russell Street, Lewiston, died on Feb.12 at home.
She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 11, 1921. She was the youngest daughter of Albert O. and Claudia Roy Anctil. She was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Pelletier School of Beauty Culture in 1938. That same year, she opened Bernadette Hair Stylist, which she owned and operated for 49 years. She also was an instructor at Mr. Bernard’s School of Hair Fashion in the early 60s. She loved to enter competitions and won many city, county and state championships with her artistic and creative styles.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish, now part of Prince of Peace Parish.
She leaves 19 nieces and nephews; and many grand-nieces and nephews.
Bernadette was predeceased by her two brothers, Adrien O. and Armand E.
Anctil of Lewiston; her sister, Lucia O. Anctil, Lewiston, Jeanne
(Roland) Gagnon, Lewiston, Florence (Dominique) Jalbert, of Ocean Park, Therese (Alphondor) Chamberland, Lewiston and Adrienne (William)
Siedschlag of Middleton, Wisc.; and two nieces, Janice Siedschlag
and Gertrude Drapeau.
The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice
nurses and aides for the caring and quality care they gave her.
