Canadian Railway Executive Recruits at CMCC
Eric Alain, a human resources manager with Genesee & Wyoming Canada Railroad Company, visited recently with officials at Central Maine Community College in Auburn. He is pictured here at left with Dean of Planning and Public Affairs Roger Philippon and Maurice Nadeau, the chair of the Electromechanical Technology (ELT) program. Nadeau, at right, is describing features of the Mitsubishi RV-3SDB-S312 robotic arm, part of the Flex-Mation Series II work station that the College acquired recently with Federal Perkins Grant funds.
Alain visits the College periodically to recruit ELT students for positions in signal maintenance, inspection, and repair. The company owns and operates short line and regional freight railroads in the United States, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands.
The ELT program at CMCC prepares students for careers in electricity and electronic fields that require technicians who are capable of dealing with the challenge of rapid changes in technology. Emphasis is placed on providing a solid theoretical background in electricity and electronics balanced with industrial control technologies.
