LEWISTON — Seventeen members of Girls Scout Super Troop 314, comprised of teens from Durham, Lewiston, Lisbon and Sabattus, spent the day in Boston exploring the city.

The troop began the day at Wellesley College for a tour of the campus, led by Allison Walker-Elders of Lisbon Falls, a freshman at Wellesey. After the tour, the Girl Scouts rode the train into South Station in Boston and spent the afternoon enjoying the sights, and sampled some international foods at Faneuil Hall.

While in Boston, the troop experienced several forms of public transportation, and learned to travel as a large group. The Boston excursion is one of several trips planned over the next year to prepare the Girl Scouts in the troop for a trip to Washington, D.C., slated for April 2011.

The Super Troop also earned the Explore Boston Interest Project Patch. For more information about Girl Scouts, contact Girl Scouts of Maine at 1-888-922-4763.
