LEWISTON — Those who sign up for Healthy Androscoggin Quit and Win before Monday, Jan. 11, and stay tobacco-free for five weeks could win up to $500.

Tobacco users interested in quitting must pick a quit date on or before Wednesday, Jan. 13, and stay quit until Feb. 17. Those who live, work or go to school in Androscoggin County and stay quit for the five weeks will be entered into a drawing to win prizes, including $500.

The prizes will be awarded at the Quit and Win celebration on March 11 (participants must attend the celebration to win). Those who do not live, work or go to school in Androscoggin County can still participate, with the opportunity to win other prizes.

Healthy Androscoggin hosts a tobacco support group every Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Potvin Conference Room at St. Mary’s Health System. There is no need to register.

Healthy Androscoggin asks participants to sign up with a buddy who will support them through the quitting process. Participants are also encouraged to call the Maine Tobacco Helpline at 1-800-207-1230 for additional support. Those who use the Helpline at least three times may be entered into a separate drawing for $200 at the March celebration.

To register for Quit and Win or to learn more about quitting smoking, call Healthy Androscoggin at 795-5990 or visit www.healthyandroscoggin.org.
