Ernest Lamontagne
1916 – 2010
AUBURN — Ernest Lamontagne, 93, of Auburn died Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Androscoggin Hospice House.
He was born in St. Neree, Quebec, in 1916, the son of Amedee and Marie Anne Lamontagne. He moved to Lewiston on his second birthday and attended local schools. During World War II, he served in the Army in Northern Africa and Italy.
He was employed at Bates Manufacturing for 40 years. He enjoyed working with his children and grandchildren on home renovation projects. In addition, he liked to go camping with his family during summer vacations.
He is survived by two sons, Paul of Falmouth and Donald and wife, Gisele, of Auburn; six grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and wife, Gena, Jason and wife, Jennifer, Steven and wife, Shannon, Jill Harrigan and partner, Amy Harrigan and Jenna; eight great-grandchildren, Ema, Jacob, Samuel, Annabelle, Cayden, Cora, Clara and Maxim; two sisters, Lucette Landry and husband, Fernand, of Lewiston and Rachel Jean of California.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne “Rita”; a son, Normand; and brothers, Paul and Gerard.
