Worship service

SOUTH PARIS — Sharon Bouchard will lead the 10 a.m. worship service at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., on Sunday, Feb. 21. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday School and Forest Perkins will direct the music. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Child care will be provided. Everyone is welcome.

Basket bingo

NORWAY — A Longaberger Basket Bingo fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 21, at the Norway Legion Hall, Main Street, to benefit Responsible Pet Care Shelter. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and bingo will begin at 12:30 p.m.

There will be special games, raffles and refreshments. Tickets are 10. For more information or advance tickets, call 743-8679.

NORWAY — The Rev. Richard Beal of the Universalist churches in Norway and West Paris has announced that the First Universalist Church of Norway, 479 Main St., will host a “beat the winter blahs” program for the public from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 23.

The church will provide space and homemade cookies for anyone who would like to play or learn to play cribbage or just get together to socialize. Folks are asked to help out by bringing cards and cribbage boards.

NORWAY — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Tent 19, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the home of Marilyn Jones.

Library winners

PARIS — The winners of the Paris Public Library’s “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” contest for January were Jacob Lang and Abbey Landry. They each received a gift bag with a children’s biography, valentine pencils, tissues, marshmallow hearts, chocolate hearts and a glue stick. They correctly identified the heart as being the organ that pumps blood throughout the body.

February’s question revolves around third grade literature. Entries, available at the Paris Public Library, are due Saturday, Feb. 27. All ages are welcome to participate.
