PERU – Former Selectman Rick Vaughn was elected to the board Thursday with 69 votes. David Vance received 21, Town Clerk Vera Parent said. Sixteen people voted by absentee ballot, she said.
Vaughn replaces Eric Horn, who resigned a couple of months ago with two-and-a-half years left on his term.
Vaughn is a member of the Peru Fire Department and one of three, full-time public works employees for the town. He was a custodian for the former Peru Elementary School from 2001-2005.
Vance is a member of the Peru Fire Department and a part-time Med-Care Ambulance Service employee.
The Board of Selectmen will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, in the town office to begin working on a municipal budget. A regular board meeting will follow at 6 p.m.
