DEAR SUN SPOTS: You’ve helped me before, and I hope you can again. I have an overhead garage door that needs to be fixed. Once in a while it works automatically, but most of the time it needs to be put up manually. I hope there is somebody out there who can help me. I can be reached at 562-7660. Thank you! — Peggy, Dixfield

ANSWER: There are several servicers of garage doors listed in the phone book, including the Overhead Door Co., Augusta, 866-632-3667; Reginald True Jr. Door Services, Livermore, 897-6694; and O & P, Farmington, 778-5971. If there is someone closer at hand, hopefully they will give you a call.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Are there any denture services in the Franklin County area? My upper denture is getting pretty thin and probably needs to be relined or rebased. The teeth are still OK. Thanks. — W. H., Farmington

ANSWER:
There are three denture centers listed in the phone book under “denturists,” but there are none listed in Franklin County. There are three in Lewiston-Auburn: Auburn Denture Center, 120 Center St., 777-1149; New England Denture Center, 501 Main St., 777-0088: and Smile Again Dentures, 801 Webster, 514-0660.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you or any of your readers know of any exercises that a person can do for their throat? I had cancer, but even though the cancer is gone, I still can’t swallow and still can’t talk. I don’t want to be hooked to a feeding tube for the rest of my life. Thank you. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER:
Sun Spots is very sorry to hear of your illness and wishes you all the best. But she is not a medical professional. You need to ask your doctor what you should do and follow his instructions precisely. And if you smoke, you need to stop. The Maine Tobacco Helpline can help. Call them at 1-800-207-1230.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for your response to my request about Cash’s
of Ireland, now defunct. I came across the enclosed information about
Shannon’s mail order center. The phone numbers ring or emit a busy
signal. I write to ask if you can find any information about Shannon. I
do not choose to have a computer. I prefer to read books, newspapers
and magazines. Not having a computer prohibits communication more and
more each day. If Shannon mail order is defunct also, would it be
possible to find another catalog and mail order company in Ireland? —
Joanna Walsh-Ward, Lewiston

ANSWER:
Sun Spots doesn’t think you’ll find it very rewarding to try to order
from Shannon’s — with or without a computer. Are you searching for
china? Because that’s all that Shannon’s seems to feature on their Web
site, which looks as if it is little more than a link to manufacturers of
expensive china. If you let Sun Spots know what specific item you are
looking for, she can be of more assistance. There are undoubtedly many
Irish items available via mail order or online.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On April 3, Tommys’ Feral Feline Friends will have
an event at Auburn’s Kmart to honor a very special lady (Rose’s mom),
who served as past treasurer for Tommy’s and continually gave her
support whenever she could.

Tommy’s is always happy to hear from
crafters and bakers who would like to donate to this nonprofit
organization committed to helping the homeless feral cats throughout
Androscoggin County. The lives of these feral cats are always in
jeopardy and sometimes very short, but Tommy’s is committed to making
them as safe and comfortable as possible. This requires money for food
and veterinary care.

Please help by donating a craft item or baking
something for April 3. Norm can be reached at 650-8374. There will be a
silent auction and also an Easter egg hunt for children. Mark you
calendars for Saturday, April 3, at Kmart. Hope to see you there. —
Jeanne Gagne, Greene
