PORTLAND — Good Theater will present “The Importance of Being Earnest,” a comedy of manners, morals and misrepresentation of the manor-born, written by Oscar Wilde. The show will open Thursday, March 4, and run through March 28.
Wilde’s sharp dialogue still delights audiences, some 110 years after the play was written. Algernon and Jack both fall in love under assumed names. When the women announce they could only love a man named Ernest, they must work quickly to maintain their lady loves.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday; at 8 p.m. Saturday; and at 2 p.m. Sunday. In addition, there will be shows at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10; and at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20. Good Theater is in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress St.
