The most controversial topics that stir people up are God, government, guns and gays.
God is a supernatural being. He never had a body; never walked this Earth; and never wrote the Bible. The word “God” was given to him by mankind, yet many wars are fought because “my God is better than your God.”
Governments are designed to bring equality and justice to people, yet many are so corrupt that equality and justice don’t exist. The rich are getting richer while the poor get poorer. If “God” could be left out of politics, maybe things would get done.
All citizens have the right to bear arms. After all, guns don’t kill people, people do. Not long ago, there was a woman in the news who walked around with her pistol strapped to her hip at her children’s sports events. Yet she was killed in her home by a gun, triggered by her husband.
Because of the teachings of the supposed “God,” governments have denied gays equal rights. The “don’t ask, don’t tell” law means thousands of young gays in the military are being discharged because of their sexual orientation. One consolation: They are not being sent home in flag-draped coffins.
My question to all young gay Americans who want to join the military: Why risk your lives for a government of God-fearing politicians that allows you to carry a gun to protect America when they see you as defective human beings?
