Texas hold’em

NORWAY — A Texas hold’em tournament to benefit Responsible Pet Care will be held on Saturday, March 6, at Charlie’s Entertainment Center, 246 Main St. The entry fee is $55. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and the tournament will run from 1 to 5 p.m.

Tea party

HARTFORD — A “Butterfly Garden Tea Party” will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Hartford Town Hall. The event will include a tea party, musical performances, jewelry making and butterfly crafts, desserts and a silent auction.

The event will be by reservations only, due to space available. To receive an invitation, call Arlene at 224-7355. All funds will go to the Hartford Community Church Christian Education Fund.

Knitting guild

SOUTH PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 2, at the First Congregational Church, for a board planning meeting for the year.

If there is no school because of a storm, there will be no meeting.

Open mic

NORWAY — An open mic night will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St. Vessel Recordings artist Heather Pierson will host. Sign-up will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 7 p.m. The cost is $3.

Those attending are also welcome to bring donations of food for the Oxford Hills Food Pantry. They are in most need of peanut butter, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce and canned tuna fish. Other nonperishable food items will also be welcome. For more information, call 935-4505.

Karaoke

NORWAY — A karaoke night will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the American Legion Post 82. DJs will be the Old Crows. Food will be available. The cost is $6 and proceeds will go to the post.
