LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free four-part workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers titled “Food for Life – Eating Well for Cancer Survivorship.”
Weekly sessions be held from 2 to 4 p.m. beginning Monday, March 8. All sessions will take place in conference room I, 12 High St.
The workshops are sponsored by The Cancer Project, a Washington, D.C. based nonprofit organization advancing cancer prevention and survival through nutrition education and research.
The schedule is as follows:
March 8: Fueling up on low-fat foods and favoring fiber.
March 15: Discovering dairy alternatives and planning healthy meals.
March 22: Replacing meat and enhancing antioxidants and phytochemicals (non-nutritive plant chemicals with disease preventative properties).
March 29: Immune boosting foods and maintaining a healthy weight.
Cathi DiCoco, a Food for Life instructor with The Cancer Project, will lead the workshops. She has 25 years of experience in culinary instruction.
