Young artists

Artwork created by students from Sabattus, Lewiston and Lisbon will be exhibited along with about 100 works by elementary through high school students statewide at the Portland Museum of Art. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Youth Art Month Exhibitions in Maine, and the 16th annual exhibition at the museum. The exhibition will run from Feb. 27 through April 4. A reception will be held at the museum from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 6. Admission is free; refreshments will be served. Among those exhibiting will be Erin Black and Noah Pomerleau, Sabattus Central School; Keely Domini, Philip W. Sugg Middle School in Lisbon Falls; Enrique Mainit, Lisbon High School; Renee Poulin,  Lewiston Middle School; Rebecca Spilecki, Lewiston High School; and Krystal Vye, Lisbon High School. The self-portrait, above, was done in colored pencil by R. J. Adil, an eighth-grader at Lewiston Middle School. The museum at Seven Congress Square is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday; and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students with ID, $4 for youths ages 6-17 and free for children under 6. Admission is free from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
