NORWAY — A 21-year-old man was jailed Sunday on a charge of assaulting a man a second time.
Craig S. Goodwin, of Gary Street in Oxford, was charged with tampering with a witness or victim, assault and violation of bail conditions. He was released from the Oxford County Jail on Tuesday morning.
According to a report by officer Ron Cole of the Norway Police Department, a 19-year-old victim said Goodwin and another unidentified man confronted him outside the Ripley Medical Building on Sunday evening. The victim said the two men assaulted him, leaving him with minor injuries. He also said he felt the attack was meant to intimidate him in regards to a prior assault.
Cole said another Norway officer was investigating a complaint against Goodwin regarding the previous assault. Goodwin also had an arrest warrant against him for an unrelated assault against a different man.
Cole said he and officer Troy Harps of the Oxford Police Department arrested Goodwin on the warrant. Goodwin denied taking part in the assault, saying he had been watching movies at his residence during the evening.
