CUMBERLAND — Charles “Bill” Kenny has announced his candidacy as a Democrat for senator from District 11, which includes the towns of Cumberland, Chebeague Island, Long Island, Yarmouth, North Yarmouth, Falmouth and Gray.

Kenny, a decorated, retired Air Force officer and Gulf War veteran, is a university professor in graduate-level organizational leadership. He also consults with Maine companies in growing their international businesses.

Kenny earned his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Oklahoma and holds an advanced certificate in management from the International City/County Managers Association. He grew up in Old Town and left to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. He moved back to Maine 15 years ago with his wife of more than 40 years, Kathy. They live in Cumberland and have one adult son, Tim.
