Marie Blanch Michaud

1909 – 2010

LEWISTON — Marie Blanch (Carrier) Michaud, 100, formerly of Cook Street, Auburn, and Metcalf Road, Winthrop, died very peacefully of natural causes on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in St. Fabien de Penat, Quebec, Canada, April 29, 1909. She married Wilfred Michaud in 1939, and came to the United States.

She worked on her farm in Winthrop for more than 30 years raising chickens, selling milk, making butter, and growing vegetables and canning them. She enjoyed singing and playing the harmonica. Later on she knitted slippers for the church fair and for everyone in the family until her eye sight worsened.

She leaves a daughter, Pauline Fenton and her husband, George, of Winthrop; seven granddaughters; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; and a son. George.
