Roger J. Girardin Sr.

1946 – 2010

POLAND — Roger J. Girardin Sr., 64, of Poland died Wednesday, Feb. 24, at his home with his loving family by his side, after a long illness.

He was born in northern Maine, Feb. 8, 1946, the son of Elephege and Rilda Girardin. He married Danielle Melanson on April 3, 1964. In his early years, he worked in construction and later owned his own construction business.

He was previous owner of Just Friends Restaurant, which he built in Poland. He owned a laundromat in Mechanic Falls and later built Girardin Estates LLC of Poland.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Danielle Girardin of Poland; one daughter, Lori Estes and her companion, Floyd Johnson, of Poland; one son, Roger J. Girardin Jr. and his companion, Debbie Cornish, of Auburn; three grandchildren, Deryk and Lacie of Sabattus, Alex and Mercedes of Auburn and Roger III of Poland; two great-grandchildren, Owen Estes and Christopher Girardin; one sister, Rolande Breton and husband, Roger, of Lewiston; one brother, Roland Girardin and wife, Aleta, of Lewiston; stepgrandchildren, Kimmie, Laurie, Cassie and Michael; stepgreat-grandchildren, Michela, Alex and Paige; his wife’s loving family; and countless nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father; mother; stepfather; and brother, Phil.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ramser and staff, Dr. Little and staff, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, and those who helped in making Girardin Estate LLC, Paul, Dick, Tim, Kevin, Ron and Chuck.
