CANTON – Five residents, including the incumbents, are running for two seats on the Board of Selectmen.

Lisa Cummings, a six-year veteran of the board who works at a Livermore convenience store, is seeking a third term. Incumbent Brian Jordan, a maintenance worker at Victorian Villa, is running for a second three-year term.

They are being challenged by Shane Gallant, owner of a plumbing and heating business and a member of the Canton Fire Department, who is making a first bid for elective office.

Also running is former selectman and current Budget Committee member Donald Hutchins III, who works for the Maine Department of Transportation, and Jeannette Ouellette, also a member of the Budget Committee.

The two incumbents who are completing terms begun by others on the Planning Board, Thomas Adley, an employee of an Auburn paper company, and Doleen Goodrow-Boyce, a homemaker, are seeking full, three-year terms on the board.

No one took out nomination papers for two open seats on the town’s Budget Committee. Administrator Kathy Hutchins said the three-year terms will be filled by write-in candidates.

The election takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the town office. The annual town meeting follows at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 13.
