This is in response to the Sun Journal story “Health and wealth,” published Feb. 14. I was upset after reading that article. It was a negative portrayal of Central Maine Healthcare’s CEO, board members and other top executives, making it seem as if they care only about themselves and the money they make. That is so untrue. The article displayed half-truths.
There are many answers to everything that was written and if the reporter had all of the information it would have shown that CMH executives have compassion, loyalty and care about the employees and the patients that come through the doors.
I have been an employee of Central Maine Medical Center for nine years now. I have witnessed this facility to be compassionate about its employees in many ways.
Yes, we at CMMC are proud to say that we received raises last year, and the years before. We all work very hard to take care of the patients that need us and to keep the hospital running for those patients. Each person is unique in his or her own way. Many have gone to college, earned degrees or advanced further — educational wise — with help from CMMC and they will say they are proud to work for an organization that holds morals and values at such a high level.
I am one of those employees and proud to say I work at CMMC.
