Have you ever been really wrong about something?
Friends and I went to Downstage at L/A Arts to support our friend, Sally Jones, who plays the part of Sen. Margaret Chase Smith. Not my thing, I thought; I don’t like history — it’s going to be pretty dull. But that’s what friends are for — they support one another. In the past, I’ve marveled at Sally’s abilities in numerous local productions. Yet, “Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington” just didn’t sound all that interesting to me.
I was so wrong.
The play was brilliantly written — entertaining from beginning to end. And it was delivered by a true professional. Sally Jones was magnificent in her portrayal of Sen. Smith.
It was the most fascinating history lesson I’ve ever witnessed.
