AUBURN – The L/A Senior Hockey League announces registration nights for its men’s and women’s summer divisions. Players must be at least 18 years of age for the women’s division and 25 or older for the men. Caliber is restricted. Men’s games will be Sunday nights; women, Monday nights. The season will run from April to August, consisting of 18 games.

Registration fee is $250 for players currently registered with the league in 2009-10. Cost is $275 and registration is required for those not yet registered. Half the cost is mandatory at time of registration. Full payment is due prior to the first game.

Players may register at the Pettengill Pond House from 6 to 9 p.m. the following nights: Friday, March 5; Sunday, March 7; Friday, March 12; and Sunday, March 14. ‘Y’ schedules baseball, softball instruction program

AUBURN – Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is accepting registration for its 2010 Baseball/Softball Instruction Program. This season the ‘Y’ will be offering separate classes just for softball. The program is brand new this year and will include batting, fielding and throwing instruction. The program will run from March 8 through April 16. The program will be held in the YMCA gymnasium.

Players will be grouped by age to assure proper distance and instruction. For six weeks the players will attend one class per week consisting of 60 minutes of instruction. Each class is limited to eight players to maximize individual help and instruction. Team slots are available, but any team registering would responsible for providing its own coach.

There will be several class options during the week for each age group. The age groups are 8-9, 10-12 and 13-15 years old. Member fees are $35 per player, non-member fees are $60 per player, and team fees are $250 per team. A YMCA youth membership is only $7.75 per month.

12-and-under baseball players sought

PORTLAND – The New 12U Baseball team called the Southern Maine Black Flies is looking for good ball players to compete in various tournaments. Most notably, the team will play at Cooperstown Dream park in Cooperstown, N.Y. from August 14-21. All Little League age ballplayersa are eligible. River Valley softball announces coaches’ meeting

MEXICO – The River Valley Men’s Slowpitch Softball League will hold a coaches’ meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, March 14th at 121 Harlow Hill Rd. Any person wanting to coach a team this season is welcome to attend. Knowledgable umpires are needed. Pay is $25 a game.
